UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2015:

The main motive of this test is to determine eligibility for college & university level lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals.

The eligibility test for lectureship is being conducted since 1988 by University Grants Commission (UGC).  The UGC has also adjudged to permit PSUs to use NET result database to recruit master degree holders.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria:

  • Aspirants who have fix at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree OR equivalent exam from any universities or institutions identified by UGC in kindness including languages and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test.
  • Those who will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) assessment and their result is still lie in wait for OR those whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test.
  • Ph.D. degree holders appliers shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.

Relaxation in Percentage

  • The minimum marks are set as 50% for the candidates belonging to the category Other Backward Classes (OBC) Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) / Persons with disability (PWD) in Master’s degree or other same examination are eligible for this Test.

Age Limit & Relaxation criteria:

For Junior Research Fellowship:

Upper age limit for Junior Research Fellowship is not more than 28 years. A relaxation upto 5 years is given to the appliers belonging to OBC/SC/ST/PWD categories and to women applicants. Three years’ relaxation in age will be providing to the candidates possessing L.L.M. Degree. Total age relaxation on the above ground(s) shall not exceed 5 years under any facts.

For Assistant Professor or lecturer: There is no upper age limit for applying for eligibility for Assistant Professor.
