The CDS Exam is divided into three main sections:
- Vocabulary: This section has 120 questions that are based on grammar rules, vocabulary, finding errors and comprehension.

CDS Exam Syllabus:
As we know the syllabus consists of English for 100 marks, General Awareness for 100 marks and Elementary Mathematics 100 marks (not for OTA candidates) each of 2 hours duration. From my personal experience, I have qualified the CDS Exam twice, CDS-I 2013 and CDS-I 2014 written Exams for Indian Army and Indian Navy. Practicing RS Aggarwal’s Quantitative Aptitude continually as the section covered by the book is quite complete for many exams. For GK refer Arihant’s Objective book. There are many questions from Indian History, Geography and Biology and Current affairs are not that measurable. As there is inadequate time, focus only on the easy ones and do not waste time during the exam. If you are confident in any 2 of the 3 sections, then surely you are on the safer side so don’t take much tension.
But ensure that you attempt at least 80 per cent. Annually more and more aspirants appear and thus the cutoff may not be the same each year. So prepare well in advance and practice as much as you can in efficient time. Keep in mind the negative marking and try not to guess-attempt with so many questions. Though there is no caste quota and therefore every candidate is treated as the same and the same cutoff marks are decided for all.
