Steps to Check:
- Go through the official sites of the college in which you wish to take admission in & then check their approval letter on their websites.
- Or simply go through the official sites of AICTE & UGC.
You can check for registered or AICTE approved colleges by Visiting to the official website of
AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) provides an approval to several Colleges/Universities that they are authorized to run it or not. They approve an Institute after justifying the infrastructure, faculty members, their qualification & experiences, etc. When it gives approval letter to a particular institute, they provide an approval number in that letter by which one can easily check out either the college is registered or not. An approval letter to the Universities for the same year has the validity of approval for only 1 year.

The University Grants Commission Act (1956) explains, “the right of conferring or granting degrees shall be exercised only
* By a University established or incorporated by or under a Central Act, or a State Act
* An Institution deemed to be University or an institution specially empowered by an Act of the Parliament to confer or grant degrees.
Thus, any institution which has not been created by an enactment of Parliament or a State Legislature or has not been granted the status of a Deemed-to-be-University, is not entitled to award a degree.” Accreditation for higher learning is overseen by autonomous institutions established by the University Grants Commission.
Accreditation in India
Accreditation or approval is mandatory for all universities in India as it this is created through an act of Parliament. Without accreditation, fake institutions have no legal entity to call themselves as University and to give ‘Degrees’.
Authorization By NBA
NBA (National board of Accreditation) also authorized to give approval to the standard colleges in the same way as AICTE give the approval. NBA approves the CSE, ECE & IT streams for three years & ME & EE for five years in engineering colleges.
You must keep in your mind that before taking admission it is your duty to verify the college’s registrations & approvals of the college you are going to admit. Don’t chose any college to take admissions in until & unless you not satisfies.
