Career in defence gives the place of dignity and respect amongst the youth and it also provides chance to serve the nation. If the respect, honor and pride is not enough for a career in defence, then nothing else would be. This requires the sense of responsibility and ability to face the challenges. Career in defence services, i.e. a career with Indian Army, Air Force or Navy is the noble one. You may choose it as a career option after 10th/12th/Graduation/B.Tech/MBA. There are two ways of joining- through the National Defence Academy or through the Combined Defence Services Exam. UPSC conducts these exams for filling up various posts in different departments.

Career in Defence:
After 10th standard:
After 10th standard, candidates may opt the positions of Lower Division Clerk, General Duty, Technical Staff, Nursing Asst., constable, Sailor, Seaman etc. as per their interests.
After 12th Standard:
After 12th standard, Aspirants may go for National Defence Academy and they are required to give a written Test. Contenders who have passed plus two may opt engineering career in the Army. There are so many positions available after 12th such as JCO, Cadet Entry Scheme, Airmen in Tech. Trades, Fire Safety, Forest Ranger, Non-Technical trade, etc.
After Graduation, Students may appear in Combined Defence Services Exam, held every year by UPSC. Those who come in the merit list are sent to the training establishments. There are so many positions of officers available after Graduation.
An Engineering graduate can join the Indian Military Academy directly. They only need to attend the Service Selection Board interview. There are so many officers’ and Short Service Commission (Technical) positions available for engineering graduates of different disciplines.
After the MBA, Contenders may join Defence by giving the CDS exam. It is conducted by UPSC twice every year. There are Officers’ posts available for MBA qualified aspirants.
