About Bharathiar University

Bharathiar institution of higher education was established at Coimbatore by Government of Tamilnadu in February, 1982 under the order of the Bharathiar University Act, 1981. The Postgraduate Centre of institution of higher education of Madras, which was functioning in Coimbatore before 1982 produced core of Bharathiar University. In May, 1985 University received appreciation from University Grants Commission (UGC) New Delhi for intention of grants.
